We’re a progressive Christian faith family where everyone is welcome. We practice God’s radically inclusive love and strive to embody the good news that is Jesus Christ in all that we do.
Rooted in a Spirit-filled, Christ-centered approach, we engage with Scripture and the world around us thoughtfully and with compassion.
We believe in creating a space where you can grow, ask questions, and explore faith. Together, we’re here to foster deeper understanding and better thinking for better living.
Our values are the deep roots that nourish and anchor us. These roots provide the foundation for everything we do. They guide how we engage with one another, live out our faith, and seek to reflect God's love in the world.
We lead with grace (kindness, patience, and a posture of understanding) in every relationship and circumstance, reflecting the immeasurable grace God has shown us. Grace is the foundation upon which we build community and relationships.
Following the example of Jesus Christ—God incarnate—who wrapped Himself in human flesh and dwelt among us, we believe in showing up for others. Presence is how we love, care for, and serve the people God cares about, just as Jesus did.
We give, not to receive or manipulate, but to be an extension of God’s hand on earth. Generosity allows us to make God's love and concern for others tangible, and we trust that through giving, we reflect God’s care in this world.
We celebrate the beautiful complexity of God’s creation, honoring and respecting that which we do not fully understand. At The Tree, inclusivity is paramount—no matter your age, race, gender, socioeconomic status, or sexual orientation, you are welcomed and can participate fully in the life of our community.
Integrity means more than honesty; it’s about consistency. We strive to live consistently with how God is showing up in our lives and community, aligning our actions with our faith.
We trust Christ, not merely the movement created in His Name, to be at the center of all things. As a result, we seek to discern God’s movement in spaces where Christ’s presence is evident but His name may not be explicitly mentioned, as in the story of Esther. We celebrate and affirm the work of Christ and the Holy Spirit wherever we find it.
We understand and pursue holiness as the process of becoming whole—set apart by God, but also deeply connected to the world in love and service. Holiness is not about perfection, but about aligning our lives with God’s character, seeking transformation, and reflecting God’s love and grace in all we do. It is through this pursuit of holiness that we grow closer to God and live out our calling as a community rooted in grace, integrity, and love.
From the deep roots of our values grows the sturdy trunk of The Tree Community. Our Trust Statements form this trunk, providing the strength and structure that connects our foundation to the branches of our faith. The trunk holds us steady as we extend outward, embodying trust in God and each other. It supports the community’s growth, ensuring we stand firm in our faith while embracing new possibilities.
Why “Trust Statements” and not “Belief Statements?”
At The Tree Community, we see a profound difference between belief and trust. While traditional belief statements can create boundaries, trust invites us into a living, active relationship with God and each other. Belief may feel static and doctrinal, but trust is relational, dynamic, and foundational to our community. We speak of how we trust God, and invite you to experience that trust with us.
We trust that God is Love—immeasurable, unstoppable, incomprehensible, and all-encompassing. God's love is irresistible and incomparable, consuming and capable of more than we can fathom. God exists in harmonious community as three Persons: Father (Source, Creator, Sustainer), Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit (Sophia—Wisdom).
We trust that Jesus Christ reveals the fullness of God’s nature (Colossians 1:15, Hebrews 1:3). He became human, lived a life fully aligned with His Father's will, and willingly laid down His life on the Roman cross. In His resurrection, He triumphed over evil, sin, and death, and ascended to heaven.
We trust that the Holy Spirit guides us into all truth (John 16:13). The Spirit imparts Wisdom generously to those who seek Her counsel and trust in God's Presence and Kingdom (James 1:5). The Holy Spirit continues to speak, guide, and empower all who ask with open hearts.
We trust that God, who made humanity in God’s image, loves all people—no matter who they are, what they’ve done, or where they’ve been (1 John 4:8-10). Although we were created in love, the complexity of life in this world prevents us from fully experiencing or expressing that love without communion with our Source, God.
We trust that salvation is found in reunion and communion with God, as revealed through Jesus Christ. For us, this means experiencing abundant life—both now and into eternity (John 10:10). While we trust in the path of Jesus, we recognize that others may understand and experience salvation differently. We believe in approaching these differences with humility, openness, and respect, honoring the spiritual journeys of all people. Our hope is that through trust in God, each of us can find healing, connection, and the fullness of life (John 17:3).
We trust in God's limitless ability to reconcile and restore all creation. God’s reconciling work is consistent with God’s character, and we refrain from placing limits on what God can accomplish. We trust that with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).
We trust that church is fundamentally God's idea because community is God’s idea. The heart of church lies in connection—where people gather, not as individuals in isolation, but as a community united in love, trust, and shared purpose. If a church ceases to be a true community, it is no longer reflective of God’s vision. That’s why we’ve chosen the name The Tree Community—to reclaim the essence of what made the early Christian movement so compelling after Jesus’ ascension. Church, to us, is a place of growth, connection, and belonging, where people can journey together in faith and trust.
We trust that prayer is a conversation with God, an ongoing dialogue that invites us to be open, honest, and reflective. Prayer is more than asking for what we need—it’s about listening, aligning ourselves with God’s love, and being transformed by that connection. Whether in moments of silence, joy, or struggle, we believe that prayer connects us deeply to God, to ourselves, and to one another. In prayer, we find peace, wisdom, and the courage to live fully in faith.
